Photomosaics

Sometime in February 2005 I began experimenting with creating Photomosaics. Photomosaics are composite images made from hundreds (or thousands) of smaller images that work together to create the larger image. This page has a collection of some of my experiments with this medium. I create these images using MacOSaiX a free software for the Macintosh. These images are hosted on Flickr.

Soham This is a photomosaic of my son Soham. Soham is interested in sports, particularly basketball, cricket, and soccer. This picture is made from a Google search about these topics as well as pictures from our family album. See the full image here…
Shreya This is a photomosaic of my daughter Shreya made from pictures from our family album. See the full image here…
Douglas Hofstadter Birthday present for Douglas R. Hofstadter. This picture is made from 1600 smaller pictures, all of which are related to the work he does. There are pictures of Godel, Escher and Bach (of course) as well as pictures of Magritte, various ambigrams I have created over the years, pictures of DNA, brain scans, recursive patterns, fractals and so on. Patrick Dickson A photomosaic for Patrick Dickson, a colleague at my department. Patrick loves the Internet, the World Wide Web and cooking. No surprise his image is made from images found by Google when asked to search for these terms. See the full image here…
